The restriction on residential structures within 300 feet of a hydraulic fracturing pad is a blanket restriction and does not include an option for a hazard analysis. The hazard analysis that is required for hydraulic fracturing pads between and 300 and 1,000 feet of a proposed project applies to new and existing buildings. If the hazard analysis indicates risks to the property, HUD requires mitigation to address the risk and may reject the project if no mitigation is possible.

MAP Guide requirements on oil and gas wells are located at Chapter 9.6.19.D, with requirements for hydraulic fracturing pads at 9.6.19.D.6.
